Coastguard and rescue helicopters called as woman on pleasure vessel goes overboard

A WOMAN going overboard from a pleasure vessel off the Isle of Wight has sparked an emergency callout this afternoon (Thursday).

UPDATE: The woman has been taken to hospital.

HM Coastguard says it is coordinating a response following a report of a woman going overboard south of Ventnor.

The alarm was raised at around 1.45pm.

Two HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft have been sent.

The RNLI's all-weather lifeboat from Bembridge, and Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, have also been called to the scene.

Two nearby vessels are supporting.
