Coleen Rooney urges Wayne to 'grow up' following community service order

Earlier this week, Wayne Rooney was handed a 100-hour community service sentence for drink-driving and now it has been reported that his wife Coleen hopes that this will be a wake-up call to force Wayne to “grow up”.

The pregnant mum-of-three is said to be sick of Wayne’s “immature behaviour” after he was caught driving another woman’s car three times over the legal alcohol limit earlier this month.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “Coleen has said the best thing that could have happened to Wayne is getting this 100-hour community service.

“She thinks this may be the shock he needs to grow up. She has always said he is like her fourth child.

“He’s one big kid. He does nothing around the house, is always fooling around – and just plays computer games.

“It’s time for Wayne to man up. The latest events are the last straw. Coleen thinks this might be the making of him.”

As well as the community service, Wayne was also banned from driving for two years and has been forced to get a ride to the Everton football training ground with his dad.

The ban is said to have put extra stress on Coleen, with the star worried about how she will get to hospital when she goes into labour.

Speaking to the Daily Star, an insider shared: “One of the main consequences is she won’t be able to rely on him to ferry her around during her pregnancy – particularly when she goes into labour.

“She will suffer too for his stupidity.”

Speaking in a statement, Wayne apologised for his recent behaviour, saying: “Following today’s court hearing I want publicly to apologise for my unforgivable lack of judgement in driving while over the legal limit. It was completely wrong.”

Everton football club are said to have fined Wayne two weeks’ salary, around £320,000, for his recklessness.

Coleen and Wayne have been married for nine years and have seven-year-old Kai, four-year-old Klay and 20-month-old Kit together.
