Colman Domingo and Andrew Haigh to Be Honored at Provincetown Film Festival 2024 — See the Full Lineup

The Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF) has officially unveiled its 2024 lineup.

IndieWire can announce that the beloved LGBTQ-friendly festival will honor “All of Us Strangers” helmer Andrew Haigh with the Filmmaker on the Edge award. Haigh, who is set to direct a Leonardo da Vinci biopic for Universal, will be feted with a conversation with resident artist John Waters on June 15.

“Ever since his film, ‘Weekend,’ screened at PIFF in 2011, we have been tremendously impressed with Andrew Haigh as his films embody both truth and desire while offering a deep, emotional connection and an original voice,” PIFF Artistic Director Lisa Viola said. “We eagerly look forward to welcoming Andrew to Provincetown for a lively and memorable conversation about his exciting film career.”

Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo will be honored with the Excellence in Acting Award while his latest feature “Sing Sing” screens at the festival.

“We are so happy to be honoring Colman Domingo for his incredible body of work, including his transcendent performance in ‘Sing Sing’,” Anne Hubbell, PIFF’s Executive Director, said. “He exemplifies the commitment to creativity and community that fuels PIFF.”

The festival takes place from June 12 through 16 in Provincetown, MA. PIFF opens with “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution” from director Page Hurwitz. The documentary features interviews with Margaret Cho, Sandra Bernhard, and Judy Gold, and focuses on the world of queer stand-up comics.

Nathan Silver’s “Between the Temples” starring Jason Schwartman and Carol Kane will close out the festival.

Spotlight selections are “Daughters,” directed by Angela Patton and Natalie Rae, Anu Valia’s “We Strangers,” and “All Shall Be Well” from filmmaker Ray Yeung. Additional programming highlights include Sundance breakouts “Didi,” “Daddio,” and “My Old Ass,” along with short films “Bite” and “Alok.”

“We’re proud to once again shine a bright spotlight on films that speak to the interests and passions of our audience,” Director of Programming Andrew Peterson said. “From comedies and dramas to films that tackle social justice, environmental and political topics to documentaries that profile artists and activists, there’s something for everyone.”

The 2024 special screenings are “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” which may or may not have a sequel in the works, as well as John Waters presenting Pierre Creton’s “A Prince.”
