Coronation Street fans have been rocked by Sally Metcalfe’s imprisonment this week, and the ITV soap is reportedly set for another shock storyline.

Teen troublemaker Amy Barlow (played by Elle Mulvaney), the daughter of recently remarried Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow, is set to become a mother aged just 14.

The storyline is set to unfold in early 2019, and Tracy will reportedly want to ‘kill’ the father, however Corrie bosses have not revealed if the dad is a character we know yet.

A source revealed to The Sun: “Amy is seen sobbing her heart out, asking her granny Liz to help. Steve finds a pregnancy kit and tells Tracy about it and they both lose their rag. Tracy says she wants to kill the baby’s father.”

The source added that the family will decide an abortion is the best decision for Amy, but she will change her mind at the last minute:

“They demand an abortion and Amy agrees but changes her mind at the 11th hour.”

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod, formerly head producer of Emmerdale, has already confirmed that Amy will be involved in a major storyline in the new year.

Amy may be just 14, but she’s already been at the heart of some disturbing storylines. Following very much in the steps of her notoriously devious mother Tracy Barlow, she has bullied her cousin Simon Barlow in the past and wrongly accused the family dog Eccles of biting her.

This year she was also involved in a shocking storyline that saw Simon Barlow give Summer Spellman a drug laced cigarette that left her in the hospital fighting for her life.

Elle Mulvaney has played Amy Barlow since 2010, and has been played by six other actresses since her character’s birth in 2004.

The upcoming teen pregnancy storyline echoes that of Sarah Platt, who fell pregnant with Bethany Platt at just 13-years-old in 2000. It became one of the soap’s most controversial storylines of all time and even won praise from the government for highlighting the reality of teen pregnancy.
