Hull Live readers have been sharing their thoughts on the iconic former Tigers manager who just recently reflected on his memorable tenure at Hull City. In a particularly candid moment, Steve Bruce revealed that his biggest regret during his eventful four-year spell at Hull City was the club's Europa League campaign which concluded in disappointment with a play-off stage defeat.

During his time at the helm of the East Yorkshire team, Bruce led the club to two Premier League promotions and an FA Cup final appearance. His reminiscent revelations came during a recent episode of the 1904 Club podcast.

ForeLeft chimed in with nostalgic eyes: "It’s great looking back and no I wasn’t part of the European travels but I was dragged by dad to the semi final of the Watney Cup in 1970 (I’ll leave that with the more senior supporters in the house). Time to look forward now with much positivity - this could be the beginning of a truly exciting era."

Dug100 said: "Great era for city, I loved Lokeren away except the getting pelted with bottles after the match ."

Rokinrobin joined in with: "Trapped in a narrow street by water cannon and riot police who watched us get bottled and stood by watching!"

Nelly3214 replied with :"And the water cannon! Fantastic trip. Brilliant atmosphere in the square all day! Never to be forgotten trip."

123000 said: "I loved it when he was picked up on the touchline by the sky football channel swearing at his own player while west brom manager."

Thewokearefastasleep commented: "His biggest regret should be getting us relegated after being given a £40 million warchest at the start of our second season in the Prem or maybe giving away Liam Cooper so he could play his son instead, or maybe giving away Tom Cairney or maybe supporting the Allams on the name change, the list goes on , but he's right, losing in Europe is right up there."

RobDownSouth said: "Honest footballer and honest manager. Hope Tim Walter is too. We value that at City."

Patxi agreed: "Hard to disagree.....especially as we went down anyway. Although we had really bad luck with injuries that season, and i think we'd have stayed up if so many players hadn't been sidelined - at times we had 9 or 10 out."

Along with Nelly3214, who said: "Totally agree. I went to Lokeren and couldn’t believe Brucie pretty much fielded a reserve team which lost the game against very average opposition. Probably the one and only time we will be in Europe so agree it was a massive mistake."

Shaz nicho just said: "LEGEND. Respect always Mr Brucie."
