Diversion route after A38 shut after tanker blaze

Emergency repair work is underway on the A38 this morning (Wednesday, June 26) following a tanker fire. The blaze broke out on the eastbound carriageway near Ivybridge yesterday evening.

Locals reported seeing smoke rising above the vehicle which was transporting milk. The fire led to a spillage on the road and National Highways said it required a "substantial" clean-up.

As of 10am this morning, the eastbound carriageway of the A38 remains shut. There are traffic delays in the area and a diversion route is in place.
