Dorset residents were treated to a Spitfire fly-by today.

The plane departed from Dunkeswell at around 12.55pm and flying all the way along the coast to Osmington before completing a loop and heading back.

Many were ‘very pleased' to have spotted the Spitfire overhead.

As reported by the Echo, another opportunity to spot a Spitfire flypast will be Thursday, June 6 as part of D-Day celebrations.

The flypast will take place at 2.25pm and will begin at Portland Bill, where the plane will then fly up the centre of Island, past the cenotaph and drop down across Victoria Gardens and across Portland Harbour - but this is subject to national commitments and weather conditions.
