Drivers have been warned that a "large amount of tractors" will be on Cambridgeshire roads for a memorial event on Sunday (June 30). The Barry Gowler Memorial Tractor Run will take place during the day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Sue Ryder Charity.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said residents of Ramsey, Warboys, and surrounding villages should expect "a large amount of tractors" on the roads as part of the event. More than 70 tractors are expected to take part in the event, covering a 26-mile route in Huntingdonshire.

Zoe Gowler started the event in 2022 in memory of her husband Barry, who spent his final days at the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. He was a farmer with a passion for tractors which inspired the event.

The tractor run will start at Helen's Farm in Meadow Lane at 10.30am before the tractors travel to Ramsey via Upwood and Ramsey Heights. The route then continues through Bury to Warboys with a break at Johnsons of Old Hurst between 11.40am and 1.15pm.

From there, the tractors will continue to Pidley and Fenton between travelling through Wistow and Little Raveley. The event will finish at Helen's Farm at around 3pm.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Expect a large amount of tractors on the road this coming Sunday morning and afternoon." Our Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) are supporting the Barry Gowler Memorial Tractor Run (in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support & Sue Ryder) to make sure everything runs like clockwork."

The event will include two charity raffles with a £10 ticket giving buyers the chance of winning a special Ferguson TE-F 20 tractor valued at a minimum of £5,000. A second raffle costing £1 per ticket will see winners get prizes including a Honda Petrol Hedge Trimmer.
