A man from Bury, who was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Whitworth, racially abused a police officer.

Callum Monaghan, of Hornbury Drive, Bury, was arrested for drunk and disorderly behaviour on Market Street, on October 27 last year.

The 31-year-old then went on to racially abuse PS Gar Ho Cheung, with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Monaghan used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

The court uplifted his fine from £120 to £200 for racism and he must pay the officer £100 in compensation, plus £85 costs and an £80 surcharge.
