Dylan O’Brien has been confirmed to return to supernatural series Teen Wolf, despite being severely injured on set while filming the third Maze Runner movie.

O’Brien’s injury during the The Death Cure pushed the movie’s release back to January 2018, shutting down production indefinitely,

With his return to Teen Wolf up in the air, fans have the answer that they’ve been waiting for - O’Brien will be back as Stiles Stillinski on the sixth season of the MTV drama, and he will play a crucial role.

“Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him,” showrunner Jeff Davis told Entertainment Weekly.

“We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.”

Well, thank god for that! It’s only right that one of the best characters of the show returns for its 20-episode season six. Here’s why.

He’s the comedic relief

While Scott (Tyler Posey) is left to figure out who’s after him, Stiles is often the comedic relief, especially in tense situations. He’s the one who asks the questions that we want to know the answers to, and he often does it in a sarcastic, hilarious way. What makes Stiles even more special is that he’s the only human left in the ‘inner circle’ of friends.

Stiles and Malia (Stalia)

Stiles met werecyote Malia (Shelley Hennig) when he and Scott found her roaming the woods. Then, the rest is history. After finding a mutual connection, they begin to date, and oh how sweet are they. Malia is Stiles’ first proper girlfriend, and their relationship is partly based on him helping her to adjust to human life as well as helping her find out who her parents are.

Void Stiles

O’Brien showed off how much of an amazing actor he is when a Nogitsune, a Dark kitsune takes control over him in season 3B. Stiles begins to suffer from hallucinations, sleep paralysis and partial dyslexia, allowing the Nogitsune to take control over his body. ‘Void Stiles’ is O’Brien’s best story line to date on Teen Wolf, showing how versatile of an actor he is as he gives his best performance on the show.

Teen Wolf season six has no official air date.
