Games studio Bethesda unveils ‘real’ wearable from Fallout games at E3 games expo
Fallout 4, the latest instalment in the post-apocalyptic role-playing game saga, will be released on 10 November 2015, says its maker.
The special Pip-Boy edition of the game will include a Pip-Boy replica - the famous wearable wrist-based computer (Personal Information Processor-Boy) featured in the series.
Games publisher Bethesda made the announcement at the annual E3 games expo in LA.
Gamers can slip their smartphone into the Pip-Boy and hook up to the dedicated app to manage their in-game inventory.
Fans of the game series have been making their own replicas of the Pip-Boy for years, but this is the first official version.
The Pip-Boy edition of the game will cost £99.99.
Along with the new title, the maker also announced a spinoff mobile game called Fallout Shelter. Completing the lineup was the unveiling of Dishonored 2 - a sequel to the successful stealth action game - along with a remake of the popular game Doom which is due to land in Spring 2016.
Bethesda has previously released a teaser trailer for Fallout 4, but its Sunday E3 event was the first time that actual gameplay sequences had been shown.
Both Fallout 4 and Dishonored 2 will feature playable female characters, indicating a positive move to wards more inclusive characters.
