EastEnders confirms Ian Beale is hiding a mysterious secret

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has confirmed that Ian Beale is harbouring a mysterious secret as son Peter becomes suspicious.

Ian returned to Walford in August last year with Cindy and Peter in tow, but hasn't found it easy as his wife has gotten closer to her ex-husband, George Knight.

Next week's scenes will see Ian acting tetchy as Anna, George's daughter, asks him about son Bobby's 21st birthday, with Ian snapping at her after viewing something on his phone.

Sensing that Ian is in no mood to help, Anna speaks to Freddie for ideas on Bobby's party. He attempts to keep it cool as he tries to glean information, but Bobby knows what he's up to and says he doesn't want to celebrate.

Peter, who also hears that Bobby isn't in the best frame of mind, later becomes suspicious of Ian after seeing him act weirdly. He enlists the help of Cindy to find out what is wrong with him, with Ian saying he's thinking of running for council again.

The pair aren't necessarily buying his words, with Peter remaining sceptical as Ian heads off for his meeting; Ian also lies to Cindy, saying he's going to Manchester for a leadership course.

Sensing that Ian is hiding something, Peter checks with the council and calls his father's bluff - he had no meeting there. Peter demands to know what Ian is concealing - could it potentially tear the family apart?

Whilst Ian is acting strange, there were recently even more unusual reports of a rat infestation on the set of EastEnders at Elstree Studios, though a spokesperson for the soap played down the rumours in a statement.

"There is no rat infestation at EastEnders but on the odd occasion, if we have suspected an unauthorised visit from a furry visitor, we have called in the specialists," they said.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
