EastEnders: The 6 Hottest Upcoming Storylines

The ‘EastEnders’ are still recovering from the sentencing of Bobby Beale…

But don’t expect Albert Square to quieten down anytime soon. The next few weeks brings some big surprises and explosive storylines… as well as the return of some of the show’s most iconic cast members.

There might even be a shock exit on ‘EastEnders’ int he near future. And a grand send-off for the legendary landlady of the Queen Vic – Peggy Mitchell.

We take a look at some of the biggest storylines coming up:

The Return of Grant Mitchell (Again)

That’s right – Grant Mitchell is back yet again… and after his recent flying visit, it looks as though he’ll be spending a bit more time on the square. But will he show a bit of brotherly love to Phil? Not exactly…

Grant Mitchell’s return spells trouble for Phil, as tensions between the feuding brothers are at an all-time high. Grant is apparently on the war path, and for good reason. After Phil doesn’t make good on a rather hefty loan, his brother is now gunning for him.

And we all know what happens when the Mitchell brothers turn on each other.

“No-one else will know,” he threatened. “Just me and you. And when the time comes that I don’t have to play nice, I’m going to bring you a war, Phil. Just so we’re clear.”

But Phil might not play nice either… especially if he finds out about Grant and Sharon’s kiss.

The Return of Sam Mitchell

If the return of Grant just wasn’t enough, it looks as though Daniella Westbrook is back on the square as Sam Mitchell… and with Peggy’s funeral just around the corner, perhaps that was to be expected.

But it won’t just be a brief cameo.

Expect Sam to feature heavily in the ongoing Mitchell saga, and with her 5-year-old son Sam in tow, it looks as though his father Jack Branning is in for an uncomfortable few weeks. And let’s face it – Sam isn’t one to turn up quietly, is she?

Let the drama commence!

Paul Coker Will Leave The Square?

That’s right – Ben Mitchell’s boyfriend is on his way out… but we still have no idea what happens. And ‘EastEnders’ producers are keeping very, very quiet.

Apparently, Paul Coker will be leaving Walford sometime later this summer. But quite how that happens is a bit of a mystery. He’s seriously loved up with Ben at the moment, and it all seems to be going rather well.

But according to recent mutterings, it looks as though we can expect an explosive exit for poor old Paul. And that likely means a heart-wrenching storyline for Ben Mitchell, too. Does something get between them? Is tragedy just around the corner?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Jay Makes Things Even Worse

It’s no secret that Jay has been through the mill lately… and after being branded a ‘ginger nonce’ and put on the Sex Offenders Register for his relationship with Star, it feels as though things couldn’t possibly get any worse.

But wait until you find out what happens next.

After Jay’s reputation is all but destroyed, he’s struggling to get a job – even his brief stint at the undertaker’s ended with him getting the sack. But now he’s considering a life of crime… begging Roxy to hook him up with her drug supply.

Will Roxy let him dig an even deeper hole for himself?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But surely drug dealing is a terrible idea.

Peggy Mitchell’s Funeral

Don’t worry – Peggy will be getting a decent send-off.

It’s one of the most heart breaking moments in ‘EastEnders’ history. The suicide of Peggy Mitchell was watched by almost half of all UK TV viewers when it aired last month… and now the time has come to give her a proper burial.

The solemn affair was filmed on location last month, and featured Phil, Ben and Billy as pallbearers. Will the iconic landlady have a quiet funeral, or will sparks fly between the Mitchell clan over their matriarch’s graveside?

Who knows. But either way, it’s a touching goodbye to an ‘EastEnders’ legend.

Grant Mitchell Has A Secret Son?

One of the more unexpected storylines comes courtesy of Grant Mitchell… who apparently had a son with Michelle Fowler back in 1995. At least, that’s what the rumours suggest. But ‘EastEnders’ boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins may have blown the lid on their secret.

“Michelle carries the one unexploded secret – the child,” he said in a recent interview. “But there are ways around that.”

Apparently, he tried to get actress Susan Tully back on the show as Michelle. But while we’re unlikely to see a throwback cameo, it looks as though Grant’s son may turn up regardless.

Does this mean Grant will turn up with his offspring when he returns? Or will he be just as surprised as everyone else?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

But the coming weeks on ‘EastEnders’ sound packed full of dramatic twists and turns. Who said life on the square was ever dull?
