Elton John had to keep his “Eyes Closed” in Watford’s 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town as Ed Sheeran celebrated.

Global superstar musicians Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John recently celebrated the holidays by attending a match between Ipswich Town, Sheeran's favorite club, and Watford, which Sir Elton John has been supporting since he was five. The two musicians surprised each other with sweaters to support their clubs of choice. Unfortunately for Elton John, Ipswich Town won the match.

Sheeran was buzzing with excitement when he crashed Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna’s post-match interview.

“I sat next to Elton today and he didn’t like it,” Sheeran said to McKenna.

McKenna responded, “Two Legends.”

Ed Sheeran's love for Ipswich Town

Sheeran was raised in Ipswich, and despite his father being a big Chelsea fan, he has expressed his love for Ipswich Town. Sheeran has admitted that in the initial stages of his career, his focus was on music. However, when he returned to his hometown at the age of 21, his love for Ipswich Town was reignited.

Sheeran has been given an official Tractor Boys squad number of 17 for the open support he gives to Ipswich Town.

Elton John's lifelong support of Watford

Sir Elton John has a long history with his beloved Watford Football Club. John became Vice President of the club in 1973, and later bought it, becoming Chairman and President in 1976. Although he stepped down as Chairman for the final time in 2002, he remains a lifelong supporter of the club.

The pop icon has said, "It is in my heart, in my soul, you can't get rid of it. My passion for this club has never died and I'm so proud of it."
