Ed Sheeran has revealed he no longer needs to wear the chunky spectacles that have become part of his signature style.

The Bad Habits singer – recognisable by his red hair and large glasses – has recently had laser eye surgery and said he feels like he is seeing the world properly for the first time.

Sheeran told iHeart Radio, Canada: “I’ve seen through Perspex for the past 28 years and then opening my eyes after laser surgery everything was like full colour, I could read everything, it was amazing.

“I would highly recommend it for anyone.”

The 30-year-old singer has been wearing glasses since he was two years old and now admitted he wished he had had eye surgery sooner.

He added: “I’m so annoyed I didn’t get it done before, I’ve missed out on 10 years of awesomeness.”

Sheeran became a father last year when he and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed daughter Lyra.

The Galway Girl singer has admitted he would love to have more children.

He told the Open House podcast: "I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this.

"I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more. But I think we're so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I'm so happy, basically."

But he also revealed that 10-month-old Lyra is not a big fan of his music.

“No, I’ve got some she likes. She really likes Shape Of You, the marimba sound is good but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belty.”
