Edinburgh car and motorbike crash on major road as emergency services scrambled


Emergency services in Edinburgh raced to the scene of a collision on Saturday evening.

Police and ambulance vehicles were seen on West Approach Road, just after 9pm. An image from the scene shows a motorcycle lying on the road, as well as officers standing.

The motorcyclist was checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service, after getting "back up on their feet" according to a witness.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.10pm on Saturday, 29 June, to a report of a crash on West Approach Road in Edinburgh involving a car and a motorbike.

“Emergency services attended and the motorbike rider was checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

An individual who was at the scene of the collision told Edinburgh Live: "The car and motorbike collided where the lanes merge.

"The motorcyclist was back up on his feet and walking, then got taken away in the ambulance for checks. Hopefully everyone involved is alright."

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
