Elderly woman hospitalised after car overturns

An elderly woman was hospitalised today after a car overturned on a busy road. Police have said a woman in her 70s has been taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital following the incident.

The Force Incident Manager confirmed that a single car collided with a tree close to the Donkey Sanctuary end of the A3052 at 2.40pm today and ended up on its roof.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital. Her condition is not known at this time. The road has been closed and a recovery vehicle has been called to remove the car which remains on the road as of 5.15pm.

Police have said Highways England has also been alerted as there is still debris on the road.The FIM has urged drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes or expect long delays at this time.
