ITV's soap returns with a bang in 2024
Emmerdale's teens are dicing with danger at the start of 2024 as they decide to take a joy ride in Wendy’s car.
Plus Victoria and Jacob finally go public and break the news to Pollard and Leyla, while Rhona has a difficult admission to make to Marlon.

Joyriding risks for Cathy, Angelica and Heath
While the adults are attending the B&B party, Cathy, Heath and Angelica will be seen taking advantage of the situation when they use Wendy’s car for a potentially dangerous joy ride.
Over at the party, Nicola’s intention is for the kids to be helping to serve and Jimmy is sent to track them down, Meanwhile, in the vehicle, Angel and Heath are flirting and encouraging driver Cathy to increase the speed.

Bob then finds that Wendy’s car is missing and manages to get the truth from April, who admits that the teens have taken it. What we see next is Bob haring off to follow them to Hotten, while Nicola hears from Brenda that the kids have gone out joyriding. Back in the car, though, Heath is getting tetchy with Cathy about the speed she’s driving at. Yet a near-miss with another car doesn’t deter a resolute Cathy as she puts her foot down…
Victoria and Jacob reveal the truth about their relationship
Gabby is left concerned when a conversation with Jacob leaves her concerned that his affections are directed towards her. And the next day, after paying Dawn and Billy a compliment about their relationship, Gabby admits her fears that Jacob has developed feelings that she doesn’t reciprocate.
Her aim is to then set Jacob straight but, soon enough, the penny drops for Gabby, who’s astounded when she realises what’s really going on between Jacob and Victoria. The two illicit lovers then acknowledge that the time is now right to put Leyla and Pollard in the picture too, but they’re apprehensive about admitting the truth.
Discussing how best to go about things, they then arrange a meeting with the pair in the Woolpack. But as they awkwardly admit to being in a relationship, it’s not just Pollard and Leyla who hear the news, as an eavesdropping Gail is also listening in.
As for the reception that Jacob and Victoria receive? Well, it’s fair to say that there’s a degree of awkwardness when they reveal that David left the village after discovering all. But will their loved ones accept this current state of affairs?
Rhona admits that her feelings for Ivy run deep
In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Gus and his newborn baby Ivy move in with Marlon, Rhona and Mary. And it’s becoming plain that the longer they stick around, the stronger Rhona’s feelings grow for the little girl.
Now, while Gus is absent, Rhona and Marlon find themselves looking after the baby. And it’s not long before Rhona is confirming her husband’s fears and admitting that she is now thinking of Ivy as her own daughter.
Rhona then pleads with Marlon to help make this work within their family. But will Marlon be able to support his wife with what she desperately needs? Or is this set to cause a rift between the two of them?
