Emmerdale's Laura Norton updates fans on wedding to former co-star Mark Jordon

Emmerdale star Laura Norton has updated fans on her wedding to co-star Mark Jordon, saying they will have plans “soon.”

The pair, who played Kerry Wyatt and Daz Spencer on the ITV soap, have been together since 2015 and have previously announced that they were planning to wed, but this is yet to materialise.

Speaking as part of the press release for upcoming series Drama Queens, Norton revealed that the couple do still plan to tie the knot after several years of delays and patience.

“Something just kept happening,” she began. “Mark got a job away, then COVID happened, then I got a dog. I got pregnant. Then I got pregnant again. My stepdaughter said it’s the longest engagement in history!

“Time has made us go: ‘We don’t have to do anything lavish.’ We don’t have plans yet, but I think we will soon – we just want to be chilled now, because of the chaos of life, maybe keep the wedding small.”

Drama Queens sees Norton appear alongside fellow soap stars from Coronation Street and Hollyoaks in a “new kind of reality show”, with other figures including Ellie Leach, Rita Simons, Jorgie Porter and Jamelia.

“I started filming Drama Queens before I went back to work after a long maternity leave, so I’ve been on a real journey with all the mixed emotions,” said Norton of the show, which will premiere on April 10.

“I’m enjoying having a family structure and routine – finding a bit of myself that I haven’t connected to for about four years (when I had my first child) so that’s really nice. I’ve been in a soap for 13 years – that’s where I’m comfortable.

“I’m an actor but this is the real me and there’s been moments I’ve felt vulnerable and emotional. I haven’t been able to put my guard down completely. It is nerve wracking, but I love the premise; strong women with good friendships and support networks who juggle things.”

Drama Queens premieres on ITVBe at 9pm on April 10. Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
