Evacuation Orders in Place as Hurricane Beryl Approaches Jamaica

Evacuation orders were in place on Wednesday, July 3, for several locations in Jamaica as Hurricane Beryl approached the country and was forecasted to bring “life-threatening winds and storm surge.”

Footage filmed by X user @Gypsycapper shows the wind blowing through the palm trees at a resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Wednesday morning.

An evacuation order was in effect on Wednesday for areas prone to floods or landslides, or near sea level, gullies, or waterways, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced on Wednesday.

Holness also said that defense forces would be mobilized to “maintain public order and assist with disaster relief after the hurricane.”
