Everton are reportedly lining up a second successive loan deal for Leeds United forward Jack Harrison. That is according to the Daily Mirror, with Toffees boss Sean Dyche keen to retain Harrison's services following a successful loan spell.

But due to the club's ongoing financial troubles, the Premier League club cannot afford a permanent transfer. Negotiations over Harrison's future are set to take place as soon as the Whites ' season is over.

Daniel Farke 's side travel to Wembley on Sunday afternoon to take on Southampton for a place in the Premier League next term. Should promotion be achieved, it remains to be seen what Harrison's Elland Road future may look like, especially given the form of Leeds' attacking players this season.

Harrison established himself as a useful member of the Everton squad in 2023/24, despite the team’s attacking struggles. Across all competitions, only Dwight McNeil registered more assists than the 27-year-old. He also found the back of the net on four occasions.

The 27-year-old arrived at Elland Road on loan from Manchester City ahead of the 2018/19 season, helping the Whites reach the play-off semi-finals. Harrison returned for the next two seasons on loan once again, before completing a permanent switch in 2021 for a fee of around £11m.

During his time in West Yorkshire, the former England Under-17s international has scored 34 goals and and provided 32 assists in 206 games for the club. He completed his loan switch to Goodison Park at the beginning of this season, helping Everton retain their Premier League status.

Harrison's loan deal did not include an agreement to buy following the conclusion of his contract, but did have a release clause that the Toffees could activate during his time on Merseyside. But, given their financial troubles off the pitch, a deal was unable to materialise.

A potential deal hinges on the outcome of this weekend's play-off final. Should Leeds emerge victorious, it might be that Farke gives Harrison an opportunity to stake his claim. There are big question marks surrounding Crysencio Summerville's future.

But given the form of Leeds' forward line this term, Harrison could be deemed surplus to requirements and allowed to leave the club this summer.
