'Exceptional' Devon carers honoured at national social care awards

A Devon home care team is celebrating after being honoured at one of the top industry awards. CareYourWay South Devon scooped a highly-prized gong at the Stars of Social Care Awards 2024 event in London.

The glitzy event was staged at the Marriot Hotel in London's Regents Park on Friday, June 14 and saw social care professionals from across the UK battle it out for the top prizes. And among them was Giles Sabater, the registered manager of CareYourWay South Devon, who won the Inspirational Home Care Manager Award (South) category.

The awards highlight the incredible efforts of home care professionals across the nation and attract a remarkable attendance of dedicated individuals who have significantly impacted the lives of many. Industry leaders, care-givers, and supporters from various regions were in attendance on the night.

Giles was shortlisted as a result of his outstanding leadership and the unwavering dedication of his team. As registered manager of the Totnes -based team, which is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, colleagues say he has been "instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence and compassion".

They added that "his approach goes beyond the conventional management style; he leads with empathy, and always prioritising the well-being of both his clients and his team."

Giles' brother and chief operations officer Jonathan Sabater accepted the award on the night, cheered on by their colleagues. The CareYourWay South Devon team, alongside their colleagues at CareYourWay Hertfordshire, were also finalists at the awards.

The latest trophy adds to their impressive collection of achievements, recognising their hard work, passion, dedication, and true care that each member brings to their role every day.

Speaking afterwards, Giles said: "This award is not just mine; it belongs to every member of the CareYourWay team. Their tireless dedication and unwavering passion are what make our service truly exceptional.
