Feel like a secret agent with these five wrist gadgets

Feel like a secret agent with these five wrist gadgets

Wearable tech has really come into its own during the last few months, especially products designed for your wrist, or with a wrist wearing option. From smartwatches that show you who is calling, to fitness bands measuring your stats, the two areas come hand in hand.

Whether you want a band to track your run or a watch to take snaps from your wrist, here are five of the best wearable tech products available.

Withings Pulse - £90

Withings Pulse is similar to the pedometers that measure the number of steps you take, or don't take, but it can also measure a number of other things too.

Along with your heart rate, Withings Pulse takes note of your sleep patterns and sends the information to an app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. Data is then collated online in a personalised Health Mate site so you can see how you are getting on.

It's a tiny device, measuring only 43mm across and weighing just 8g so it can be tucked almost anywhere and if you want to physically wear it, there is a wrist strap and belt clip that comes with it.

Jawbone Up - £100

Similar in style to a charity wrist band, the Jawbone Up will track what you do, such as the number of steps you take, and advise you on goals.

Up has a hidden connection that plugs into your headphone jack. It then syncs to the app and data is shared online where you can share goals with others.

In addition, it has a sleep tracker, power nap feature and diet tracker, along with eight colours and three sizes to choose from.

Nike FuelBand SE - £129

The Nike FuelBand SE is the next generation FuelBand and although it brings with it new features, the price remains the same as its predecessor.

It features hourly goals, where you gain a point as long as you reach your target each hour, so great for motivation, and a sessions feature allows you to create blocks of time that you can manually edit and correct, depending on your workout. Plus you can track your wrist's movements more accurately.

The only downfall is it is only compatible with iOS devices, so if you are an Android user, you may need to reconsider your options.

Pebble - £150 (TBC)

The Pebble smartwatch started as a Kickstarter project and has since turned into a great device.

It will give you notifications for email, text messages, calls and you will have the ability to control your music straight from the watch.

Using Bluetooth, the Pebble is compatible with smartphones running iOS 5 and Android 2.3.3 and above, and the Pebble's software is constantly being updated to give you new features and watch faces on a regular basis.

Samsung Galaxy Gear - £300

Slightly pricier than the others listed here, the Samsung Galaxy Gear features a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 OLED display and will integrate with a select number of Android devices.

There is a 1.9-megapixel camera on the strap that can capture still images or 720p HD video, and you will be able to find them all on your device afterwards as the Gear connects to it using Bluetooth.

The watch itself doubles as a speaker and microphone so if you have a call coming in, you can answer it using wrist, plus the Gear will alert you to texts and emails as well so you'll never miss a beat.
