Firefighters in Brooklyn Respond to Cell Tower Fire

Locals in Red Hook, Brooklyn, were awoken in the early hours of April 20 by firefighters arriving on the scene of a cell tower fire.

One resident who posted video of the incident described the tower as a “5G tower”. The person who recorded this video, Rob Yulfo, simply said it was a “cell tower”. The fire came in the wake of a large number of similar incidents reported in Europe and the UK, in which 5G towers have been set on fire amid bogus conspiracy theories around the supposed ill-effects of 5G and its links to the coronavirus.

Whether the tower seen on fire in Brooklyn was part of 5G infrastructure was not confirmed at the time of writing. Nor was the cause of the blaze.
