Floodwaters Rush Past Submerged Car After Heavy Rain in Central Texas

Heavy flooding hit Coryell County, Texas, on Sunday, May 5, causing damage to local infrastructure and road closures across the county.

Footage released by the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office shows flooding on two roads in the county.

One of the clips shows floodwaters causing the Leon River to nearly submerge the State Road 36 bridge near Fort Gates.

Local media reported that a disaster declaration had been issued in Coryell County on Sunday.

Flooding had caused damage to local buildings, the report said.
