Forty great pictures as Comic Con returns to Bury in style

Thousands of families joined in with the fun at a festival which created a "great atmosphere" in Bury town centre.

Bury Comic Con returned on Sunday where people of all ages came together to celebrate their love of comics, films and pop culture.

From the bustling "Trader Zone" to the immersive Doctor Who and Jurassic zones, attendees were treated to an array of attractions and activities.

The "Comic Book Creators Zone" was a highlight for many, offering the chance to meet legendary artists such as Nigel Parkinson and Neil Roche.

The Creator Zone’s cosplay competition at The Met showcased brilliant talent with the event reaching capacity and participants of all ages displaying their impressive costumes.

Actor Clive Mantle, who has starred in Casualty, Holby City and Game of Thrones, was also at the festival.

The Jurassic Zone allowed visitors to interact with life-sized dinosaur replicas, and participate in workshops.

The Doctor Who Zone delighted fans with special guest appearances and iconic props from the beloved series.

Bury BID board member Louise Jackson said: "We are thrilled with the success of Bury Comic Con 2024.

"The turnout exceeded our expectations, with thousands of families enjoying the various zones and activities throughout the day.

"This event truly highlights the vibrant community spirit of Bury and brings significant footfall to the town centre.

"We look forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better."

Marketing manager at The Fusilier Museum, Gini Wilde, said: "It was great to be involved in this town centre wide event and to be host to the Dr Who Zone as part of it.

"The visitors loved seeing the props, having a picture taken with a Dalek, meeting the special guests and catching up with Dr Who himself, Sylvester McCoy.

"It was a great atmosphere throughout the day and we hope those who attended will think of visiting us in the future."

Organisers also reserved praise for sponsors Orbital and Water Engineering Services, venues The Fusilier Museum, Bury Art Museum, the Mill Gate Shopping Centre and The Met, its partner WOW Events and the Bury BID member businesses for making the event possible.
