Football camps are being set up to help keep children active and entertained this summer - and Grimsby Town is among the clubs taking part.

Parents can sign up their kids for the initiative online before the end of June to claim one of 30,000 free spaces being given away for camps around the country. Run in partnership with the EFL, Manchester City, Celtic and Rangers, the Kellogg's Football Camps kick off in July and are being held in 73 locations around the country, including with the Mariners.

Available for those aged 5 to 15, the Grimsby Town camp is set to be run between July 22 and August 29.

Paul Davies, Grimsby Town Foundation Education Mentor said: “We are delighted to be a partner in bringing to life the new Kellogg’s Football Camps programme in Grimsby this summer. In support of local parents and families, giving kids the opportunity to get onto the pitch and play in a fun and welcoming environment is something we’re really proud of.

"No doubt watching England will spur on lots more to sign up in the next week or so! Whether you’ve got kids that are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their footballing heroes, or you simply want to help them in staying active with friends during the school break, we really encourage parents to sign up today as spaces are limited."

To get involved, parents simply need to purchase a special promo pack of Kellogg’s cereal in stores to find the redemption code (on-shelves until June 24), and then sign their kids up for a local session at www.kelloggsfc.com

As the six-week school break creeps up quickly, the fun-filled camps offer an exciting opportunity for footie-mad kids, along with those who are yet to step onto a pitch, as well as a welcoming environment to stay active.

Recent research commissioned by Kellogg’s highlighted that:

  • Almost six in ten (59 per cent) UK parents struggle to entertain their children throughout the school summer holidays

  • More than eight in 10 parents (86 per cent) want their child to experience less screen time during the break

  • 86 per cent also believe that team sport is hugely important to learn valuable life skills.
