French Bakers Reclaim World Record for Longest Baguette

French bakers set a new world record for the longest baguette on Sunday, May 5, making a 461 ft (140.5 m) loaf in the Paris suburb of Suresnes.

The giant baguette beat the previous world record of 435 ft (132.62 m), set in the Italian city of Como in 2019.

A team of 18 bakers used a mobile oven specially designed for the occasion, the local government said.

Once finished, part of the baguette was sampled by those in attendance, and the rest was given to the homeless.

Footage from the Ville de Suresnes showed the baking process and the finished baguette. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records was on hand to announce that the record had been broken. Credit: Ville de Suresnes via Storyful
