Gang of youths 'attack' man in Glasgow's west end before 'making off with bike'

A gang of youths are being hunted by police following reports that a man was 'attacked' in the west end.

Officers were called to the canal path at the River Kelvin at 6pm on Friday, May 17, following reports of an incident.

Police say a 57-year-old man was 'assaulted and robbed of his bike' by a group of youths. The man did not require medical treatment.

An eyewitness posted on social media that the man had been cycling when the group 'viciously attacked' the man, throwing punches into his face and stomach which left him with cuts.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6pm on Friday, 17 May, 2024, we received a report that a 57-year-old man had been assaulted and robbed of his bike on a canal path at the River Kelvin by a group of youths. He did not require medical treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
