Millions of voters across London will go to the polls on July 4 to elect the new Government.

The Standard looks at key battleground and other seats in the capital, and has published an interactive map. Here we turn the spotlight on:

LEWISHAM WEST & EAST DULWICH

Estimated declaration time 2am

Candidates for main parties (in alphabetical order):

Callum Fowler - Green Party

Josh Matthews - Liberal Democrat

Marian Lynn Newton - Reform UK

Ellie Reeves - Labour

Christine Wallace - Conservatives

Summary:

Ellie Reeves, the sister of shadow chancellor Rachel, had been MP for Lewisham West and Penge since 2017. At the last election she won a stonking 61.2 per cent of the vote- a majority of 21,543.

The Tories came a distant second with just under 20 per cent of the vote.

Boundary changes have abolished the seat this year and replaced it with parts of three other surrounding constituencies. But the changes are predicted to make it even more of a Labour stronghold.

Ms Reeves’s Parliamentary career has not been as smooth as the fight to retain seat. In 2019, while heavily-pregnant, she faced the threat of being dropped as a candidate when she signed a statement criticising the decision to re-admit Chris Williamson to the Labour party following allegations of anti-Semitism.

Following a backlash, then leader Jeremy Corbyn said pregnant MPs would not face deselection.

Lewisham West & East Dulwich is an area that is ranked very highly for its share of university graduates and very low the number of “leave” voters in the Brexit referendum.
