A Girls Aloud interview with Scott Mills on Radio 2 turned into a bit of a melee when the topic of their setlist for the upcoming UK reunion tour came up. During Monday's show, as the band discussed their plans, tensions rose, leading to a comical clash between the members.

The conversation took a turn when Scott inquired about potential new covers for the tour, which heads to Newcastle at the end of May.

Nicola Roberts was quick to respond, "I don't think we've got space," but Cheryl saw it differently, asserting, "I've said it several times, people like it! " Nadine Coyle was not convinced and made her stance clear: "I was dead against it. I'm like we've got so many songs of Girls Aloud as our own. Why do we need to be doing it? " Cheryl stood her ground, suggesting, "But we can add just one random cover, it's fun! ".

Scott had to step in amidst the debate, remarking, "You join as there is a slight disagreement with Girls Aloud in between whether they should do covers or just the hits. We'll be back after this..." The segment resumed with the group still talking over each other, prompting Scott to interject again: "Girls Aloud are here and they're still discussing whether they're going to do a cover version or just their hits. Have we come to an agreement yet? ".

During the discussion, Cheryl interjected in exasperation, saying, "I'm not saying we shouldn't be doing any," and appealed to her fellow panellists when they interrupted her. Scott stepped up and instructively asked that Cheryl put her point across, to which she said, "I think we should do all and... for the sake of three minutes more."

Given how heated the debate was getting, Scott queried, "But how long's the show? Five hours? ", reports the Mirror.

"Exactly! " chimed in Nadine as a light-hearted Scott proposed, "We're going to have to raise hands again."

The much anticipated Girls Aloud reunion tour commences next month and comes to Newcastle for three nights from May 31. The band unveiled the news of the tour in November, explicitly stating that new songs were not part of the agenda but that this was an opportunity to commemorate their accumulated repertoire and late band member Sarah Harding, who tragically passed away in September 2021.

Cheryl divulged that the concept of a reunion had been brewing amongst them for a while but was suspended when Sarah was diagnosed with cancer. According to her statement, "We all started talking about the possibility of doing something to celebrate Girls Aloud's 20-year anniversary a few years ago. The anniversary seemed like an obvious thing that we would celebrate."

She added, "But when Sarah fell ill all priorities changed. She passed away a year before the anniversary and it just didn't feel right, it felt too soon."

It was announced by Girls Aloud that the fresh tour would entail "a celebration of Sarah, our music and our incredible fans. We can't wait to sing and dance with you again."
