If you're looking to enjoy the warmer weather this weekend then there is one fun summer family event well worth seeking out.

This weekend (Saturday, June 29), climbing experts and events firm Treetop Rocks are coming to Queens Park in the south side offering people the chance to climb real-life trees.

The social enterprise teaches tree climbing to children (3+) and adults in beautiful parks, woodlands, and estates in and around Glasgow.

And this Saturday, they are offering people the chance to climb in the much-loved south side park, between Goals and the Duck Pond and anyone interested can sign up via their website.

Speaking about the event, they said: "How we climb is different to regular tree climbing and is called RTC (Recreational Tree Climbing). With the right teaching, RTC can be experienced by almost anybody! It builds confidence, teaches new skills, encourages mindfulness & focus, & helps develop self-esteem.

"Our instructors will teach you how to ascend the trees safely, have fun, and build confidence!"

A one hour session will cost £25 or a 30-minute session will cost £15 and they have a list of advice and conditions you can follow on their website.

Money from ticket sales is used to help fund and support RTC sessions for people in Glasgow who are experiencing disadvantages and challenges that hinder them in reaching their full potential.

As well as offering info on the trees they are climbing and the importance of protecting them, in RTC they use no platforms, walkways, or permanent structures, and no damaging materials such as nails used.

They added: "By connecting to nature through RTC, we hope to encourage participants – both children and adults – to develop a love and respect for forest ecosystems.

"Whether you want to ascend to the top of the trees for a bird's eye view, or simply stay close to the base for a rope swing in beautiful surroundings, we will help you to do it safely & confidently."
