Glasgow's Govan Cross swarmed by 26 police cars as officers race to 'ongoing incident'

Glasgow shoppers looked on in horror as a large number of police vehicles and officers suddenly swooped on Govan Cross this afternoon (Wednesday, July 3).

Residents near the scene have reported screaming and shouting coming from Govan Cross near the entrance to the subway and shopping centre.

One local posted an image of the scene on social media and claims to have counted around 26 police vehicles.

Videos circulating online appear to show a stand-off between a small group of protesters and a large number of officers.

The incident is believe to be linked to a pro-Palestine demonstration at nearby arms manufacturer building Thales and those involve claim 14 arrests were made, 12 at Govan Cross.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment - more to follow on this story as soon as we have it.
