'GMB': Susanna Reid reveals she chased after knife-wielding attacker

For the first time, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has opened up about the time she was mugged at knifepoint.

The presenter revealed her terrifying story on Tuesday (November 20) on the morning show, detailing how her attacker slashed her bag off her chest and cut through her coat.

The 47-year-old then explained how her natural reaction was to chase the mugger, who eventually dropped her bag in fear and then ran off.

She spoke out about the attack during a discussion about the ‘walk on by’ culture in Britain, where witnesses film these kind of violent incidents instead of trying to stop them.

Reid said: “I got mugged once by a guy with a knife, and my instinct was to run after him. It’s not rational and obviously it’s dangerous.”

Impressed that she managed to scare off a knife-wielding mugger, co-presenter Piers Morgan asked what happened next, to which Reid responded: “He got scared and dropped my bag.”

“Really?” repeated Morgan in near disbelief.

“Yes, I was incandescent,” Reid replied. “He slashed my bag off me and cut through my coat. I was absolutely furious.

“He was running across a bridge and he and was shaking out my bag, and then he just ran off. I had cash in there and he took that but I got my phone and my keys and stuff back.”

Asked by Morgan if she was worried about the mugger stabbing her, she explained how she was too angry to think about it and that she felt “protected by my adrenaline”.

Also on today’s show, Morgan said he’d strip down naked if Little Mix came into the GMB studios. This comes after the presenter accused the pop group of being ‘fake’ and “Piers Morgan brands Little Mix ‘fake’ for nude video“.
