Henry Cavill's new movie Argylle confirms Apple TV+ release date

Henry Cavill's new movie Argylle will be available to watch on Apple TV+ very soon – with the streaming service announcing an official release date.

The Matthew Vaughn-directed escapade arrives on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 12 and will be free to stream for new and existing subscribers.

The release date was announced on the Apple Original Films' X account with a cheeky pun and a picture of cast member Bryce Dallas Howard.

"Never judge an author by their cover. Argylle is coming to Apple TV+ in one week," read the caption.

Cavill plays the title role of secret agent Argylle, the protagonist of reclusive author Elly Conway's best-selling espionage novels. However, the line between fiction and reality soon becomes blurred when the plot of her books begins mirroring the actions of a real-life spy organisation.

Jurassic World's Howard stars as Elly, who is forced to team up with an actual agent named Aidan (Sam Rockwell) to bring down the bad guys.

The ensemble cast includes popstar Dua Lipa and Peacemaker's John Cena, in addition to Samuel L Jackson, Catherine O'Hara, Bryan Cranston and Ariana DeBose.

Argylle was released in UK cinemas in February and received mixed reviews, becoming director Vaughn's lowest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes.

In our review earlier this year, we said that despite the interesting concept and unique spin on the spy genre, Argylle ends up becoming convoluted.

Fans of the Kingsman director and the film's all-star cast who haven't seen Argylle can come to their own conclusions when it arrives on Apple TV+ next Friday.

Argylle will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from April 12.
