A former nursery school in a leafy village could be converted into new homes.

A developer named in planning papers as J Hammond has applied to convert Lodge Cottage Nursery School at North Wootton, near King's Lynn, into a house.

Proposals for the site on Manor Road also include three more houses on what is currently its car park.

A planning statement says: "The former use of the site suffered a lack of demand and interest hence why the applicant is seeking to redevelop the site to fulfil the ever-increasing demand for housing.

"It is noted that the applicant lives locally to the site, owning the property to the west that neighbours this site therefore they, like most other neighbours wishes to see dwellings of high quality and interest on this site as it is within their local vicinity."

A decision from West Norfolk Council is expected later this year.
