'Human hug’ Kenneth Bone was an instant internet star during the U.S. Presidential debate

While commentators argue over which Presidential candidate did the best out of last night’s debate, the real winner was one cuddly member of the audience.

During the second of the head-to-heads between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, Kenneth Bone - who is an undecided voter - was given the chance to ask a question to the hopefuls.

He asked: “What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimising job loss for power plant workers?”

His question was important, if not “exciting” - but it was his look and demeanour which turned him into a Twitter superstar in minutes.

Thousands immediately commented on Mr Bone’s happy attitude, as well as his appearance - neat hair, glasses, moustache and red wooly jumper.

It was this look that had one Twitter user describe him as the “human version of a hug”.

Ken Bone soon became a top trending topic, with his face mocked up onto T-shirts and mimicking Barack Obama’s 2008 slogan as people declared: ‘Yes we Ken.’

One user summed up Mr Bone’s popularity neatly:

It seems that Ken is way more popular than either candidate, and should probably be the only person in this Presidential race.
