I'm A Celebrity's Josie Gibson and Fred Sirieix reignite cooking row on reunion show
Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears return for I’m A Celebrity’s Coming Out
What did you miss?
The cooking spat between Josie Gibson and Fred Sirieix rumbled on the I’m A Celebrity Coming Out reunion show which aired on Wednesday.
After Sam Thompson was crowned King of the Jungle, all the stars returned for I'm A Celebrity's reunion including Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears who made an early exit from the ITV reality show on medical grounds.
Gibson said they had managed to resolve their differences in an off camera showdown. However, it appeared the pair couldn’t resist fuelling the flames of their cooking row as well as making a few cheeky jokes about it in the reunion show. And even Gibson's son weighed in on the row after watching the ITV jungle show.
What, how and why?
Sirieix and Gibson may have left the jungle but tensions appeared to be still simmering between the pair. The This Morning presenter was confident she was the better chef out of the two of them. Confident in her ability, she said: “When I took over as camp chef, Fred didn’t like it. In the end everyone did prefer my food."
It flashed back to the moment in the jungle where Danielle Harold hailed her breakfast as one of the best in the jungle. In I'm A Celebrity Coming Out, Gibson then couldn't resist sharing a joke: "No hard feelings Fred but when you’re the better chef, you’re the better chef!"
Her son Reggie, five, had a very cheeky moment when he claimed his mum’s food looked "disgusting" as he weighed in on the cooking row. "When you were in the jungle and you were cooking, it looked disgusting," he said playfully.
In separate scenes, Sirieix also backed his own side of the argument while in the car with his love Fruitcake. The star claimed Gibson's cooking was like "watching a car crash in real time". "When you cook in camp, you have to cook fast because everyone is very hungry," he explained. "You have to know when to cook the ingredients to get the best out of them. I’m just watching a car crash in real time and the thing that makes it worse is she doesn’t listen."
In the jungle, Sirieix had a hawk's eye on Gibson every time she was acting in her role as head chef and he compared her cooking to a horror movie from the Eighties. However, Sirieix's mum gave him a telling off over his "unacceptable" behaviour towards Gibson when he come out of the jungle.
He told This Morning: "This morning I spoke to my mum because she knew I was out and she spoke to me 'Fredrick' - she calls me that when she's upset - 'Frederick what did you do with Josie? Why are you telling her what to do? What was going through your mind?' I got a telling off from my mum.
"She said, 'Frederick I do not want to listen to you this is unacceptable, you can't do it and I do not want you to do this'. She didn't understand I was not in the jungle anymore. It's the way it is edited. She said, 'Frederick do not do it again'. I said, 'Mum I promise you I am not going to do it again. Next time Josie is cooking I will sit down and do nothing.' She was mad. I had to say, 'I'm not going to do it again'."
What else happened on I'm A Celebrity Coming Out 2023?
Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears both made early exits from the show on medical grounds but they returned to the reunion to share the reasons behind why they had left.
Dent said: "Leaving my campmates and the girls will be the greatest regret of my life." Although she wasn't in the jungle long, she said she had learnt from the experience. "Take risks, say yes, and the things that you think you can't do, you can," she said. The food critic also mentioned that she struggled with having "nowhere to hide" in camp.
Spears also discussed the bonds she had built in the camp. She said: "These wonderful humans just scooped me up and brought out a side of me that I just didn't think that I had." She added: "I think I wanna move to the UK, I'd like them to adopt me... I've literally made life-long friends."
