Inbetweeners star James Buckley spends £2,000 to fix his ‘Austin Powers’ teeth

Brace yourselves for this news: Actor James Buckley is reportedly splashing out £2,000 to fix his wonky teeth after years of humiliation.

The 29-year-old star has revealed that he isn’t as confident as his on-screen counterpart, Jay Cartwright, for whom he is famous for playing in the sitcom The Inbetweeners.

Speaking of his molar makeover, James claimed that comparisons to Austin Powers served as the catalyst behind his dental decision.

He told The Sun: “When I went to the screenings of my Inbetweeners movies I would look up at myself on a big massive screen and see Austin Powers staring back at me.

“So I’m getting a brace in a couple of weeks time.”

He went on to explain that, as his teeth are in a healthy condition, he has never had a filling, but has been advised to get a brace to straighten his pearly whites.

James said that he was willing to part with up to £10,000 for the treatment, explaining how social media has affected his self-confidence.

“It’s not just girls who feel insecure about how they look – I’ve become way more insecure seeing how buff men look on Twitter and Instagram,” he revealed. “I think, ‘Oh god I don’t look like that.”

Adding that he is in a fortunate position that enables him to take measures to address his insecurities.

He added: “I’ve done all right from The Inbetweeners movies. It’s the greatest position to be in as an actor as I live in a nice house with a couple of nice cars, kids are in a private school and all that is because people went out and bought DVDs and cinema tickets. I’ve got a really nice life.”

James Buckley married his sweetheart Clair Meek in 2012. They have two children, sons Jude and Harrison.
