Incredible footage shows police dog chasing down suspect for two miles

Dramatic footage has captured the moment that a police dog chased a suspect for nearly an hour across two miles of countryside before the suspect eventually emerged from a bush and gave himself up.

Elroy Samuel, 26, from Letchworth, Hertfordshire, failed to stop for police while driving on the A507 last September – before crashing into a car and running off.

But he didn’t anticipate the dogged determination of police Alsatian Blue – who immediately picked up the scent of Samuel and led his handler through thick bushes, a knee-deep stream and over fences before they eventually located a jacket that belonged to him.

After almost an hour, Samuel was found hiding in thick undergrowth near the road, where he was immediately arrested.

He has now been sentenced to tail years behind bars after being charged with six offences: aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, using a vehicle without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop after a road traffic accident and failing to stop for police.

He has also been disqualified from driving for three years and will be required to retake his test upon release.
