Interior Design Masters winner Roisin Quinn has now revealed her dad was in hospital battling cancer the whole time she was filming the show.

At the start of last year, Quinn's dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Quinn revealed only the production staff knew and they supported her behind the scenes of filming.

Now the final has aired, Quinn told Yahoo: "Thank god, he's a lot better now. No one knew except production staff and they supported me so much. All of my dad's operations never went to plan unfortunately. He was in hospital the whole time."

Quinn called her dad while he was in hospital to tell him the great news that she had won the show. It was days after filming the Interior Design Masters final that her dad was discharged from hospital and they were able to be reunited.

She explained: "As soon as the final finished, I called him that night and then it was a couple of days after that he was discharged from hospital. It was just mad he was in hospital for the whole duration of me filming and when it finished I was able to see him and he could come home. Now he's fine and he's on the mend. We are lucky to have him."

The Interior Designs Masters winner admitted she struggled with whether she should go ahead with starring on the show. Speaking from the heart, the interior designer said it was always her dad who inspired her to pursue her dreams.

She said: "Unfortunately at the start of last year, my dad got diagnosed with bowel cancer. I felt it was very selfish of me to do Interior Design Masters but I didn't want him to feel like he was holding me back which he definitely wasn't because my dad has always pushed me to chase my dreams."

Caring Quinn had her dad move in with her and her husband for five weeks in Wirral while he was having his radiotherapy and chemo. He went back to his home in the Isle of Man a week before Quinn started filming for the show.

"The timing of everything was crazy," she added. "He moved in with us for five weeks to have his radiotherapy and chemo. Literally about a week after he left, because you couldn't have it in the Isle of Man, I started filming for the show."

While she was with her dad, Quinn thought she may have got a sign she was going to star on Interior Design Masters.

She explained: "I remember one day when I took my dad to his radiotherapy and we're sat in the hospital. This man comes on This Morning, when they have the psychic readings. This woman calls saying, 'I'm thinking of changing my career.' He goes, 'What star sign are you.' She says, 'I'm a Gemini.' And I'm a Gemini. At this point, I was just in the interview process of the show.

"This man said, 'This is your sixth year and you need a big change. Your most creative months are going to be from June and September. This is going to be your year and you're going to change your career.' I'm like, 'Jesus! Is this a sign I'm going to get onto the show?'

"I tell my dad and he's like, 'yeah, yeah'. And low and behold I did! It was probably a load of rubbish but I was full on manifesting it! That's how it all started. I knew it's now or never."
