Investigation launched after bag stolen by man on bicycle in park

An investigation has been launched after a bag was stolen by a cyclist in a Southampton park.

Police say a woman was sat on a park bench in Queens Park when she was approached by an unknown man on a bike.

During the short encounter, the man snatched a tote bag off the bench.

It contained a number of high-value items.

He then fled the scene on the bike, heading towards the Town Quay area.

The incident happened at around 1.25pm on Saturday, June 29.

Now police are asking for anyone with information on the incident to get in touch.

The man is described as white, of average build, with short straight black hair.

He was seen wearing a dark-coloured t-shirt and was riding a black-framed push bike.

A spokesperson said: "We have carried out numerous enquiries in relation to this matter but are now turning to the public for help.

"Do you recall witnessing this incident? Perhaps you were in the area at the time? Or maybe you have mobile phone footage of the incident taking place.
