Isis has threatened a terrorist attack on London this Christmas in its latest propaganda posters.

The Islamic militant organisation, which has suffered heavy defeats in the Middle East, shared a series of images online ahead of the holidays.

One poster shows an Isis fighter firing a rifle next to a burning Union Flag, while the Isis flag flies on top of the The Elizabeth Tower.

The poster reads: “We will destroy your country, as you destroyed our country”.

Another other shows a blood-stained knife over an image of the Queen with the message: “Under observation… soon”.

Yesterday, an image was shared showing Santa Claus standing on a low roof next to a box of dynamite looking out over a crowd of shoppers in New York’s Times Square.

The poster has the words ‘We meet at Christmas in New York… soon,’ written across it in black on white.

The terrorist group also shared a posters of Santa Claus kneeling before an Isis executioner on Regent Street, London, and jihadis in Paris and Rome.

The current threat level for international terrorism in the UK is severe. This means an attack is highly likely.

In September, the terror threat level was raised from severe to critical, the highest possible level, meaning an attack was expected imminently, following the Parsons Green attack.

It was last raised to critical following the Manchester Arena bombing in May, which killed 22 people.

The international terror threat scale was first made public in the UK in August 2006, a year after the London Tube and bus bombings, which killed 52 people.

The MI5 website says: “Vigilance is vital regardless of the current national threat level,” and that “sharing national threat levels with the general public keeps everyone informed”.
