ITV has announced that one of its talent shows will not be returning for a new series, with the host expressing disappointment earlier this week. The show in question, 'Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream', aired last year and followed the journey to find two new leads for the roles of Sophie and Sky in the West End's production of 'Mamma Mia!' to mark its 25th anniversary.

The winners, Stevie Doc, aged 22, and Tobias Turley, aged 23, were chosen to step into the iconic roles.

Zoe Ball, aged 53, took on hosting duties for the programme, while the judging panel featured comedian Alan Carr, aged 47, alongside theatre stars Amber Riley, aged 38, Samantha Barks, aged 33, and musician Jessie Ware, aged 39, reports the Mirror.

On her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show earlier in the week, Zoe hinted that 'Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream' would not be back for a second season. This revelation came as she reminisced with Alan Carr, her former colleague, on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Friday morning.

Reflecting on the experience, the BBC Radio presenter said: "Aww d'you know what? We're not going back to Corfu [where the show was filmed] - it's a shame. This time last year - packing our bags to go."

To which Alan added his fond memories: "I loved doing that show."

ITV has confirmed to the Mirror that there won't be a second series of the show. A spokesperson explained: "Mamma Mia I Have A Dream was commissioned to celebrate 25 years of the musical, so was only ever intended to be a one off series."

They added: "The show sought to find a new Sophie and Sky, who are now starring in the West End musical."

However, the possibility remains that the panel could reconvene to cast for another musical in the future, following the success of similar BBC shows from 2006 to 2010.
