There will soon be another chance for Vera fans to go from watching their favourite detective drama to actually being in it, as a casting call has been issued for extras to take part in new series filming when it moves to Blyth and South Shields next week.

Since Vera launched on ITV back in 2011, the hit drama has given many chances for locals to get in on the action, with countless North East residents ending up on screen in some shape or form, just ask Sam Fender, who, eight years before landing his first number 1 album, played a dead teenager in the very first episode.

Last year, filming for series 13 ended up with residents in the likes of Hexham, Gateshead and South Tyneside ending up on camera and, now that production has started on what will be the 14rth and final series of Vera, numerous roles are up for grabs for people to get a slice of ITV primetime drama stardom.

Over the last few weeks there have been some very specific call outs for supporting actors, with roles like an 'intimidating builder' and 'a troubled youth' and now there are parts up for grabs on May 8 in South Shields and May 10 in Blyth, with Brenda Blethyn and her co-stars already seen shooting in Blyth this week.

The roles still up for grabs for the next lot of filming in Blyth are 'Biker Teens' - teenage males (aged 17+ but preferably looking younger) with their own bikes and/or scooters. And, for the South Shields scenes, producers are appealing for applications from black and Asian adults.

Anyone interested in taking part should email dee@ne14.tv with headshot, full length and confirmation of availability. Please also state your location and include contact details & telephone number.

Both shoots are set to run from 8am through to 6pm.
