Four motorists have miraculously survived a horrific smash that left their car completely mangled.

Jaw-dropping pictures show the aftermath of a Jaguar careering off the road and into a ditch off the A64 near York.

Incredibly, only one of the motorists was seriously injured and had to be cut from the vehicle while the other three escaped unscathed.

Sgt Paul Cording from North Yorkshire Police tweeted the pictures and said that the injured woman had ‘a few broken bones but (was) talking’ while the others were ‘walking wounded’.

He added it was ‘incredible’ they hadn't died.

A spokesman for the police said the woman suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The carriageway was closed for three hours after the crash on Saturday at 2.40pm.
