Jay Slater disappearance 'linked' to 'scuffle' over Rolex

Jay Slater's disappearance has been linked to a "stolen Rolex" theory. A scuffle with a burly Eastern European over a stolen Rolex that could explain Jay's disappearance, MailOnline - the online version of the Daily Mail newspaper - reported in its Mail+ section.

A brawl reportedly broke out at Papagayo Beach Club in the early hours of Monday morning - where Jay was pictured partying. The melee and fight allegedly broke out involving a man who allegedly had a valuable Rolex watch stolen.

According to MailOnline, one of Slater's friends, who had travelled to Tenerife to join the search for him, suggested to police that it could have led to Jay going missing. It is not clear how it would have impacted the missing bricklayer apprentice.

The Mail reported: "I can reveal that local police are now investigating a scuffle outside Papagayo Beach Club shortly after closing time on Monday, June 17 — the most crucial hours in Jay's disappearance — in which a burly Eastern European man allegedly had a valuable Rolex watch stolen.

"Last Friday, one of Slater's friends, who had come to Tenerife to join the hunt, told detectives that the early morning incident led directly to Jay going missing. Officers are now examining CCTV footage from the venue's security cameras.

"One theory now understood to be on the table is that the Rolex had somehow ended up at the remote mountain cottage to which Slater had travelled, and that he fled into the wilderness in an ill-fated attempt to steal it."

Police reportedly confirmed they were studying CCTV and security camera footage on Saturday, and there has since been no update. ay, 19, went missing on Monday, June 17, after travelling to an Airbnb in the remote village of Masca with two men he met while on holiday in Tenerife for the NRG rave festival.
