Clarkson's Farm viewers have been left in tears after the first half of the highly-anticipated third series dropped on Amazon Prime Video last week.

The show focuses on beloved broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson as he attempts to run a 1,000 acre farm in the English countryside. The first four episodes dropped on Friday May 3, with the following four still to come on Friday May 10.

The former Top Gear star was once again joined by long-term girlfriend Lisa Hogan and farmers Charlie Ireland and Gerald Cooper. Kaleb Cooper also returned - this time as farm manager.

The series opens with Diddly Squat in turmoil: The council have shut the farm's newly-established restaurant while bad weather is ruining the crops. Clarkson expands his offerings, adding pigs, goats and even growing mushrooms in a desperate attempt to increase income.

But Clarkson - and fans - were devastated when he realises he needs to send half of his cows away in order to make room for the new pigs - including the much-loved Pepper. Viewers saw Clarkson's fondness for her grow after he kept her in season two despite failing to conceive calves.

However Clarkson was left upset when he realised he had to get rid of his cows. In the first episode of the third series, he receives an enforcement notice from the council, banning him from reopening the restaurant and even placing plant pots outside it.

This leads to Jeremy announcing the restaurant's closure and the departure of his herd, including Pepper. Jeremy shares: "I'm finding today really quite sad because for the last year I've been opening the curtains in the morning and see the cows. And I love that, making cow noises. It just cheers my heart every morning to see them."

He then adds to his co-star and farm manager Kaleb: "Are the calves going to be a bit upset tonight?" Kaleb replied: "You won't sleep tonight. They'll be calling all night long." Clarkson then says to Charlie: "Pepper's going obviously. What do you think will become of her?"

Charlie then advised him: "I wouldn't ask too many questions about Pepper if I were you. Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to." Clarkson silently observes as Pepper is loaded into a transporter along with the other cows, before audibly releasing a sigh and muttering: "Oh... Christ."

As the series progresses, Clarkson's piglet venture doesn't run smoothly either. More tragedy strikes when the pigs give birth. Lisa break down in tears as two of the adorable piglets die.

Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to share how the emotional first half had impacted them. @MikeCovell wrote: "Started Season 3 of Clarkson's Farm in tears of laughter, just finished episode 4 in tears" as @TomMaloney89 said: "Wow. Actually in tears watching Clarkson's farm. Farmers truly are amazing people. Must be such a roller coaster loving your animals that much, then having them go to slaughter. Clarkson is an absolute master of television by the way".

@darennaisbitt reckoned: "Clarkson’s Farm piglet episodes need a public health warning on them, both my wife and myself were in tears" as @hgabbert1983 said: "CLARKSON!!! Gosh you had me in tears! Once again, what a show Clarkson's Farm is."

Clarkson has since made fans a promise ahead of the season three's second half. He said: "It’s probably a good idea to say that four more episodes of Clarkson’s Farm3 are out next week. And I promise they’re less harrowing."

The show was a hit when it first debuted on Amazon Prime Video in June 2021. The first two seasons have gone on to score perfect 100 percent scores from critics on review site Rotten Tomatoes. The latest instalment has also received a 100 percent score from a total of seven critics so far.

All previous seasons of Clarkson's Farm are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now. Season three part two drops on Friday May 10.
