'Jungle' House sells for £83,000

The 'Jungle' House on Darleydale Drive, Eastham, Wirral could be given new life as it was sold in an online auction this week.

The house is currently completely engulfed in weeds and foliage that spreads from the rear of the house, over the roof, and across the whole front wall and garden.

Residents who live near the house have told the Liverpool ECHO they are unsure how the house's condition has got to this point but it is "unfortunate" for the area.

One neighbour told the ECHO: "They're a nice, lovely family [who lived at the house]. Unfortunately, it just got to the point it's at now."

Another resident, who lives just a few houses down, describes the house's current state as "mad". They told the ECHO: "I've lived here only 12 months and it's been like that since I've been here."

The Auction Company, the website where the house was up for online auction, describes the house to prospective buyers as a "refurbishment project" with "a lot of potential."

From viewing pictures published by the auctioneers, it's clear the interior will need as much 'refurbishing' as the outside, with all rooms cluttered with debris.

The auction took place at 15:00 on 26th June and was hotly contested. The winner of the auction outbid ten different bidders, and 44 total bids, to buy the house for £83,000.

According to property website Rightmove, properties in Darleydale Drive have had an average sale price of £150,000 over the last year, so a good renovation might yield significant rewards.

A resident on Darleydale Drive told the ECHO that after the auction "hopefully something good can be done about [the house]."

It will certainly take time but there is hope that the house can be given a complete overhaul and revamp.
