Kate Garraway says her husband Derek Draper is in hospital again
The Good Morning Britain star shared an update on her husband's health
What did you miss?
Kate Garraway has said her husband Derek Draper is back in hospital again as she gave an update on his health on Loose Women.
Draper contracted coronavirus back in March 2020 before being put into an induced coma.
Their lives have changed forever since then and the Good Morning Britain co-anchor now cares for the wheelchair-bound Draper alongside professionals at their family home.
What, how and why?
Asked about Draper's current condition, she told the Loose Women: "Funnily enough he's actually back in the hospital at the moment.
"I haven't talked about this - but not for horrific drama, fortunately, because there have been lots of, as we all experience, referrals and cancellations."
Garraway then confirmed that the father of her two children was readmitted to conclude treatment that began last year, hopefully leading to "more movement" for Draper.
"He's actually not at home at the moment, so we're in the visiting game," she smiled, but the TV star suddenly became very animated on the topic of carers.
"I think we need to stop treating caring as a luxury. Why are we not provided with that support as a society? We pay more tax and so we need to be given that! If Derek didn't have someone caring for him he could die that day..."
What else has been happening with Kate and Derek?
Just last month, while walking the Pride of Britain Awards red carpet, Garraway issued a concerning update about Draper's health.
"He’s not doing great, to be honest. But the battle goes on," she told Metro.
Visiting the Heart Breakfast studio in September, Garraway claimed everything's up in the air regarding the brightness of Draper's future.
"We still don’t know just how much better Derek can get, or worse. So really every time he has a rush into hospital, we're still in that adrenaline phase of, 'is this the moment where he could be taken from us?'" she explained.
"There's so many spikes of progression that no one's giving up hope that there isn't going to be a movement forward. So it's managing that rollercoaster."
